The European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID) Wins Prestigious eLearning/Online Education Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Geneva, Switzerland, May 9, 2017 – Kenes Group, a leading Professional Conference Organizer (PCO) and Association Management Company (AMC), is pleased to announce that the European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID) won the Best eLearning/Online Education category for the ESID Education Online Portal, at the International & European Association Awards. This prestigious recognition, acknowledges the hard work and adaptation of associations working on providing newer forms of content on demand, and expanding the learning opportunities for their members. ESID is a long term Kenes Group client, where the association is managed by the PCO.

Studies show that a majority of healthcare professionals are increasingly looking to online education to help satisfy their knowledge and continuing education credit needs. Online medical education is not replacing attendance at live medical meetings, but is rather another educational opportunity available to learners. ESID recognized this need and decided to give members access to valuable content throughout the year, and to extend the learning impact of the association’s congress and summer school, ESID implemented the ESID Education Online Portal. The Portal offers continuous education that supports lifelong learning for their members, and was launched during the 2016 ESID meeting in Barcelona, with 5 case studies added in December 2016.

Eleonora Gambinieri, Chair, ESID Educational Committee commented “With this service ESID has taken one more step towards enabling our community to stay on top of the latest innovations in the field, giving all members one more tool towards improving the awareness, diagnosis, treatment, education and understanding of immunodeficiency diseases. We are very thankful for the recognition and for the close collaboration with Kenes Group, and especially Kenes Education, that turned this project into a highly successful tool.”

Diana van Brakel, Manager, Continuing Education at Kenes Group added “We are thrilled to have the hard work we and ESID put into this project, recognized by the judges at the International & European Association Awards. Together we created an outstanding tool that supports the further education of ESID members and we have not stopped at that, as we are continuously working on improving the ESID Education Online Portal in order to improve their members’ knowledge, skills and competences and ultimately patient outcomes."

Kenes Education is a dedicated unit within Kenes Group specializing in international medical education, that offered this project its expertise in CME/CPD Accreditation, combining it with their extensive know how in designing effective and independent medical learning activities. Coupled with the close understanding of the needs of the association provided by Kenes Association Management team, and through the collaboration with the ESID board, the ESID Education Online portal now gives learners the opportunity to tailor their learning to their specific needs and obtain CME credits.

The Association Awards, organized by the Association of Association Executives, raises the profile of Association Executives, globally, and gives them the recognition they deserve for their effort and success. The Award ceremony took place on 3rd May at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria. The event was co-located with the Association World Congress, taking place at the Austria Centre Vienna, 2-4 May.
